What are the benefits of the Anthem HRA?

How it works

An HRA is an employer-owned account that is solely funded by the employer with tax-free contributions. Employees benefit from tax-free reimbursements for qualified expenses and can carry over funds from year to year. If an employee leaves the company, any unused funds in the account can revert to you at the end of the year.

With an Anthem HRA attached to an employee's health plan, you can choose the arrangement that works best for you and your employees:

Member pay
Your employees control what services are paid out of the HRA and when. You decide if your employees have access to a debit card to pay claims or use our online tools for reimbursement.

Provider pay
Providers are paid directly from the HRA until funds are spent. You can decide what, if any, deductible must be met before HRA funds can be used through a Deductible First HRA.

Split funding
Each claim is split between the member and the HRA, but at a fixed percentage, until HRA funds are used up.
