What are the benefits of the Anthem FSA?

How it works

A healthcare FSA and limited-purpose FSA are available to employees, spouses, and eligible dependents. They can choose to spend the total amount for the year on day one of their plan, up to the maximum set by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Learn more about these two types of FSAs.

Healthcare FSA

  • Pairs with all our medical product offerings, excluding our health savings account.
  • Helps pay for various qualified healthcare expenses, such as doctor's office visits and prescription drugs.
  • Includes over-the-counter drugs that are not prescribed by a doctor and menstrual care products under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
  • Covers things like expected health-related expenses, as well as unexpected ones, such as emergency room visits and root canals.
  • All healthcare expenses can be tied to the same debit card.

Limited-purpose FSA

  • Works with our health savings account.
  • Helps pay for qualified vision or dental care expenses only.
  • Includes “luxury” items, such as designer prescription sunglasses or teeth straightening.
